So Proud

August 14, 2012

I have a great affection for my Alma Mater, Drury University. The 4.5 years I was there were life-changing for me and have left me with some amazing friends and memories. While a student at Drury I was a part of a couple of organizations (Jazz Band, Concert Band, Student Union Board and Students in Free Enterprise). My degree is in Secondary Education and Fine Arts so it may seem strange that I was an active member of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) as it was mostly made up of business students. As a small businessman my dad was involved with SIFE as a judge in the early 1990s.  Fast forward to my 3rd year of college and two of my awesome roommates were involved with SIFE and mentioned that I should apply to join the group.  Not knowing exactly what I was getting into, I applied and was accepted into the organization.  I was active in Drury SIFE for about 2 years and was there when we won SIFE National Championship and then got to go to London for SIFE International Championships (which we won).

SIFE has impacted me in many ways.  Yesterday I received an e-mail from the current Drury SIFE Director about one of the projects the team is currently a part of in Springfield.  Add in my current life experience with H Money and my love for Drury SIFE is bursting because they are working with people with disabilities.  Well done, Drury SIFE, well done.  I am proud to be a Drury SIFE alumnus (and I suppose I should send some money your way to help fund the project…).
